Every student reaching their potential every day.

DLA #2 & Attendance Challenge

Posted Date: 01/20/26 (06:27 PM)

Good Evening, FES Families!

This week, we are starting our DLA #2 (District Assessment). This grade-level assessment (2nd grade-6th grade) helps our teachers assess standard mastery and any learning needs. Please be sure to help your child get a good night of rest and continue to have encouraging conversations about good test-taking strategies (read the questions before the passage; read the passage twice; take your time answering questions; prove your answer in the text/passage; be sure you answer all parts of the question; use the RACE technique for constructed-responses; etc.). We know our students will reach their DLA #2 goals!

Today, we began "Skiing into our 19-Day Attendance Challenge!" Each day a classroom reaches 100% student attendance, the class colors in a letter/symbol in their classroom poster, which reads: 19-Day Eagle Pride! (To earn rewards, such as a classroom attendance certificate, being released first to lunch recess, and a special treat, the class must be present 17 of the 19 days until Ski Week.)
*If a student is absent, and completes their Independent Studies work by Thursday, February 12th, they will not be counted absent for that day and the class can color in a letter/symbol to reach their attendance goal of 17 days out of 19!

As you already know, attendance is incredibly important for student's academic and social-emotional growth. Please help us get our students to school each and every day (unless they are sick, of course).

Thank you for your ongoing support here at Foothill Elementary. We appreciate all of your efforts and are grateful to be part of your village! Go, Eagles!

Sincerely,
Jamie Swisegood
