A Message From The Superintendent

Striving For Our Sierra Best

Striving For Our Sierra Best

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of the Sierra Unified School District Board of Trustees and the employees of our district, I want to welcome everyone to the 2022-23 school year. Sierra USD is a TK-12 district that spans over 2,100 square miles or roughly the size of the state of Delaware, supporting educational opportunities for over 1,300 students.

I am honored to be starting my thirtieth year in education including seven years as a Superintendent and my second year for this outstanding school district.  I seek to use my superintendent experience and passion for education to benefit the students, families and community of Sierra by upholding the established traditions of educational excellence. I am committed to the safety and academic success of every child that we serve. I am highly visible within our schools and reside in our community. I value the involvement and input of our community members, parents, staff and students. I look forward to the opportunities to collaborate throughout the school year with all stakeholders.

Sierra USD is committed to ensuring that all students are successful. All Sierra schools are staffed with highly qualified, dedicated and caring teachers, classified staff and administrators who work collaboratively to create an outstanding learning environment for our students. Using California’s rigorous curriculum content standards and data-based research as their guide, our outstanding teachers are committed to making sure that every child confidently masters California’s clearly defined and challenging standards in English/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science.

To achieve this, SUSD Board of Trustees has set five specific goals and allocated resources at the elementary, junior high and high school levels.
  • Districtwide facilities upgrades
  • Longrange planning vision/continuity
  • Top tier Ag/CTE/ROP programs
  • College and Career
  • Community Engagement and Partners

Our school district is comprised of Foothill Elementary (TK-6), Sierra Junior High (7-8), Sierra High School (9-12), Sierra Alternative High School (10-12), and Sierra @ Home (K-12). The district is committed to offering educational programs to meet the diversified educational needs of all students in our community.

Sincerely,
Superintendent
